Eligibility: This Mentorship is open to young aspiring photographers who are aged between 18 and 25.
Applicants must ensure that their participation (including acceptance of the Mentorship) is lawful in accordance with the laws of their region of residence. This Mentorship Programme is void where void under local national laws.
Application Period: The Application Period will be open between June 1st 3pm CET and June 30th, 2023, 12pm CET.
4.1 Complete the online form to provide your details (name, town/city, email address, and contact telephone number, region of residence, age, and links to your social media pages and or website). 4.2 Show and or tell us how you engage with “home” in your life and work, by uploading one (1) PDF that includes the following: 4.2.1 One recent photograph which best embody or represent your relationship to “home.” 4.2.2 A short paragraph of MAX 200 WORDS, in which you introduce yourself and explain your relationship to “home.” Feel free to address the following prompts in your text: a. What is your personal story, in life and in photography? b. What does “home” mean to you? c. What are your hopes and dreams as a photographer?Maximum of 1 Application may be submitted per person.
Details of the Mentorship: Five (5) successful applicants will be granted a mentorship with Annie Leibovitz over a period of approximately five (5) months. The mentorship will include the following:
1 online session with Annie Leibovitz and Marcus Engman
1 online session with Annie Leibovitz
2 online sessions with representative from IKEA and The Annie Leibovitz Brand Studio
The work of the mentees will be featured as part of the conclusion to the Artist in Residence collaboration.
Further Application Details and Conditions: a. Applications must be submitted in English. b. The maximum size of the uploaded application including pictures is 50MB. c. As the mentorship will be conducted in English, Applicants are required to have a good command of the English language. d. You must only upload photographs that do not infringe or violate the rights of any third party, including but not limited to, ownership, copyrights, trademarks, patents, logos, licensing rights, rights of publicity or privacy or any other intellectual property rights. Where applicable you warrant that you have acquired the necessary permissions from third party rights holders, and grant Ingka Group, Inter IKEA Companies and or Inter Ikea Group a licence, without any extra charge, to use the copyright and other intellectual property rights vesting in such material. e. Where applicable you warrant that you have acquired the express permissions from any individual featured in your Application to include their name, likeness, photographs or similar. We reserve the right to reject any Applications where, in our reasonable opinion, such an express permission has not been granted. f. You agree to grant Ingka Group, Inter IKEA Companies and or Inter Ikea Group, in perpetuity a non-revocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use the copyright and other intellectual property rights vesting in your Application for all purposes connected with this Mentorship Programme, including but not limited to display on Ingka’s website, stores, social channels, in any publicity, advertisement or case study carried out by or on behalf of Ingka Group in any manner or medium whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet and any other website of Ingka or its agents/contractors choosing and use of the Application, or part(s) of the Application, in marketing materials relating to this Mentorship Programme (“the Media”). g. You agree to the inclusion, publication, reproduction and/or other use of your Application as well as your name, voice, statements and/or photograph or video or other likeness, without further notice or compensation, in any Media of Ingka Group, Inter IKEA Companies and or Inter IKEA Group. h. You agree to grant Ingka Group, Inter IKEA Companies and or Inter IKEA Group the right to adapt, modify, and use any or all parts of the Application. You also agree to grant the Ingka and its agents/contractors the right to moderate, modify or remove any entry if it is deemed unsuitable, in whole or in part, for display on its website or in any materials relating to the Mentorship Programme. You hereby represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant the licence and rights provided for in this paragraph and that all materials forming part of your Application, and any use of such materials by or on behalf of Ingka, comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations and do not infringe or otherwise violate the intellectual property or other rights of any third party.
Selection Process: All valid Applications received during the Application Period (subject to moderation) will be reviewed by a panel, within 12 weeks from the close of the Application Period to shortlist 200 Applications based on the following criteria: a. The level of quality & creativity in the picture b. The point of view of what home is, connecting to “life at home”. c. The level of ambition for pursuing the job as a photographer d. The personal story e. The ability to act as a spokesperson for their artwork and the programme. f. The diversity among the five Mentees.The 200 shortlisted Applications will be judged by the IKEA Creative Studio to shortlist Applications to forty (40) based on the same criteria.The forty (40) shortlisted Applications will be requested to complete a video task, whereafter the Applications will be narrowed down to 15.The final fifteen (15) shortlisted Applications will be reviewed by Annie Leibovitz and Marcus Engman to select the final five (5) Mentees.
Notification to Successful Applicants: Successful applicants will be contacted via the email address/telephone number provided on submission within 10 working days after the end of the Selection period taking place.
Moderation: Ingka reserves the right to reject Applications which, in its reasonable opinion: a. are in breach of the Terms & Conditions; b. contain any content that is offensive, harmful, objectionable or which is otherwise unsuitable for publication including with respect to race, religion, origin or gender, or which could reflect negatively upon the name, reputation or goodwill of the Ingka Group, Inter IKEA Companies and or Inter IKEA Group or any partner; c. contains or refers to any unauthorised third-party brand or reference any third-party names, logos and/or trademarks; d. promotes any political agenda.
The Mentorship is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for monetary value or for any other form of compensation. If for any reason the Mentorship and/or any element of the Mentorship is not available, we reserve the right, at or sole discretion to substitute that Mentorship or element of the Mentorship for another of equal or greater value.
No responsibility can be taken for Applications which are lost, delayed, corrupted, damaged, misdirected or incomplete or which cannot be delivered for any technical, delivery or other reason. Ingka and its associated agencies and companies are not liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special, or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this Mentorship or accepting or using the Mentorship except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Nothing will exclude Ingka’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
We will not be liable for any delay or failure to comply with our obligations for reasons beyond our reasonable control arising from but not limited to freak accidents or circumstances beyond our control, global or regional epidemic or pandemic, adverse weather conditions, fire, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, plague or other natural calamities, or any other circumstances.
All personal data supplied as part of the Application will be used for the purpose of the Application process and for research and analytical purposes by the Ingka and/or by any agent appointed by it to assist with running the Mentorship programme and will not be disclosed to an unconnected third party unless your positive consent has been obtained. If any part/s of these Terms & Conditions are legally ruled to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remainder will not be affected and will continue in full force and effect.
By submitting an Application, you will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
If there is a discrepancy between these Terms & Conditions and those in any promotional material, these Terms & Conditions will prevail.
These Terms & Conditions are governed by English law and their interpretation and application will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
